Description

The recipe won't take much time. I suggest making strumby—dumplings in a lighter version. The dish is very tasty, juicy, and aromatic! You can boil strumby in salted water and serve with sour cream, or first fry them and then simmer in sauce. Either way, your family will surely appreciate this simple yet delicious recipe. Serve hot.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

    Prepare all the ingredients.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

In a deep bowl, combine water, egg, and 0.5 tsp salt. Whisk.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

    Add the flour in parts.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Knead a soft dough that does not stick to your hands. Shape it into a ball, cover with a towel, and let it rest for a while.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. Place the ground meat in a deep bowl, add one onion finely diced, fresh herbs, salt, and spices to taste. For juiciness, pour in about 30 ml of water.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Mix thoroughly. The filling is ready.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle about 2-3 mm thick. Evenly spread the filling on top, leaving a small border along one edge.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Roll up the dough tightly along the long side into a log, seal the seam well, and cut the log into pieces about 2-3 cm wide.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Slightly flatten the strumbys on both sides and coat in flour. Place them on a preheated pan.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Sear on high heat on both sides at the cut surfaces until a golden-brown crust forms.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

Prepare the sauce. To do this, pour oil into a skillet and sauté diced onion and grated carrot until soft.

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

Add sour cream and tomato paste.

  13. 13

    Step 13

    Step 13

Literally after a couple of minutes, pour in a glass of boiling water. Add salt to taste and mix.

  14. 14

    Step 14

    Step 14

Bring the sauce to a boil and place the strumbas in the skillet. If the skillet is large, arrange them in a single layer; if not, you can place the strumbas overlapping each other. Add more water if necessary— it should almost completely cover the contents of the skillet. Simmer the dish over low heat, covered, for 30 minutes.

  15. 15

    Step 15

    Step 15

The ready strumbas should swell, increase in size, and be saturated with the flavor and aroma of the sauce. Serve the strumbas hot, sprinkled with fresh herbs.
