
Cherry strudel (made with puff pastry)
Description
Homemade pastries for tea. Using puff pastry, you can quickly prepare a variety of delicious treats with different fillings and shapes. For example, strudel can be made with apples or pears, a creamy milk filling or cottage cheese, with nuts, cinnamon and raisins, but one of the tastiest versions is with fresh or frozen cherries. Serve with tea or coffee.

If using frozen cherries, thaw them first and collect the released juice in a cup. Do the same with fresh cherries (after removing the pits).

Collected cherry juice.

Add sugar to the juice and heat over medium heat, then stir in the cornstarch.

It will result in a thick syrup; let it cool to room temperature.

Pour the cooled syrup over the pitted cherries.

Add breadcrumbs.

Mix everything thoroughly.

Thaw the puff pastry for an hour.

Roll out the dough into a 3 mm thick sheet and brush with melted butter.

Evenly spread the cherry filling over the surface of the dough.

Roll the dough into a roll, sealing the edges.

Place the roll on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake the cherry strudel for 20–30 minutes at 200 degrees. Let the baked pastry cool and sprinkle with sifted powdered sugar.
