Instructions

Step 1

Pour kefir into a small container. Add an egg and mix well. Add baking powder, a little salt (just a pinch), and flour. Knead the dough. The dough should end up not too stiff. Cover with a towel and let it sit in a warm place for about an hour.

Step 2

Season the minced meat with pepper, salt to taste, and mix thoroughly. Roll out the dough into a sheet about three to four millimeters thick. Place the minced meat onto the dough and carefully spread it evenly. Roll up the dough with the filling into a log.

Step 3

Cut the roll into small pieces (about two to three centimeters wide) and let them sit for about fifteen minutes.
- 4
Step 4

Meanwhile, peel the onion, wash it, and cut it into small pieces.
- 5
Step 5

Thoroughly wash the potatoes, peel them, rinse again in cold water, and cut into medium-sized pieces of arbitrary shape.
- 6
Step 6

Take a wide and deep saucepan, pour in a small amount of vegetable oil, and place it over heat. When the oil is hot, add the chopped onion and sauté until golden. Add the sliced potatoes. Pour in enough water to cover the potatoes by one-third. Season with pepper and salt to taste, and bring to a boil.

Step 7

Place the strudels on top of the potatoes (not too close together, as they will expand in size), cover the pot with a lid, and cook over low heat for about forty-five minutes.

Step 8

If desired, the finished dish can be sprinkled with chopped herbs.
