Strudel with blueberries
Description
The recipe will not take much time. For a tasty strudel you don’t necessarily have to buy puff pastry from the shop. Ordinary dough comes together quite easily — with water and vegetable oil. After baking it becomes crisp, flaky, and very tasty. The main thing is to roll the jelly roll tightly several times.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients listed. You can use frozen blueberries as well.
- 2
Step 2

Pour odorless vegetable oil into a deep container, add salt and granulated sugar. Pour in warm water and mix thoroughly.
- 3
Step 3

Add the wheat flour and mix it in. If you like, you can add a little vanilla sugar—but not baking powder!
- 4
Step 4

Knead stiff dough and let it “rest” for 15–20 minutes, covering it with a towel or plastic wrap.
- 5
Step 5

In a bowl or on a plate, combine all the filling ingredients; crush the nuts in your hands; you can use cornstarch instead of breadcrumbs.
- 6
Step 6

Roll the dough into a thin layer on the work surface, dusting the surface with flour. Place the filling along the edge of the dough sheet.
- 7
Step 7

Roll up into a roulade, folding in the side edges first. Preheat the oven to 180°C and place the prepared roll on a baking tray inside. Bake for about 30 minutes until golden brown.
- 8
Step 8

Remove the strudel from the oven and slice it while still warm after letting it cool slightly. Optionally dust with confectioners’ sugar and serve with tea or coffee. Once the pastry has cooled, you will not be able to slice it: the pastry becomes crispy and will break apart.
