Strudel in the Odesa style
Description
The pastry is prepared simply and quickly. Strudel is served with a scoop of ice cream, a cup of unsweetened coffee, or tea for dessert or as an afternoon snack. This delicacy is made from stretched dough, and you can roll it out on a thin towel and roll it up there into a log so that the dough does not tear.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the specified ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Add 1-2 tbsp of sugar and salt to a bowl, pour in warm water and vegetable oil. Mix thoroughly and add the sifted wheat flour.
- 3
Step 3

Knead a firm dough, reserving a little flour for rolling. Cover the dough with a bag and a towel, and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- 4
Step 4

Rinse the apples in water, cut them in half, and remove the seed cores. Rinse again and cut into small cubes. Pour the chopped apples into a deep bowl and add sugar.
- 5
Step 5

Add the raisins, ground cinnamon, and chopped walnut kernels. If the apples are of juicy varieties, add 1–2 tbsp of breadcrumbs to the filling so they absorb the juice. Mix well.
- 6
Step 6

Roll out the dough very thinly and stretch it with your hands. Place the prepared filling along the edge of the dough and fold the edges over it.
- 7
Step 7

Roll everything up, stretching the dough so that its layers turn out thin and bake through better. Grease the baking dish with oil and place the prepared roll in it. Put it in an oven preheated to 200 degrees for 30–35 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

Remove the finished strudel from the oven and let it cool slightly, then dust it with powdered sugar.
- 9
Step 9

Slice the dessert into portions and serve it warm.
