
Scottish Flatbreads
Description
The recipe will not take much time. Scottish oatcakes cook quickly. Pay attention to the dough consistency when you add the milk: pour it in gradually. Flour and oats differ, so you may need more or less. Aim for a sticky, thick consistency from which you can shape a flat cake. You can serve them with tea or coffee.

Prepare the necessary ingredients.

In a bowl, whisk the egg with salt.

Add flour. Mix.

Add finely grated cheese. Mix.

Add the oats, butter grated on a grater, and baking soda (no need to slake it!). Mix everything well or rub it together with your hands.

The mixture will turn out slightly sticky.

Pour in the milk gradually. The dough will be sticky.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Rub your hands with vegetable oil. Visually divide the dough into 6 portions. Flatten each portion on your palm into a patty (flatbread). Transfer to the baking sheet.

Cut the leftover cheese into pieces and arrange on the flatbreads. Place the baking sheet in an oven preheated to 190°C and bake for 20 minutes.

When the time has elapsed, remove the baking sheet from the oven and transfer the cooked flatbreads to a board.

Serve the pastries warm alongside your favourite drinks.
