Chocolate Easter Bread
Description
The baking is simple and quick. Preparing this chocolate Easter bread according to the recipe is easy, and the list of required ingredients is minimal. Yes, of course, this is not a classic Easter version, but it will be enjoyed not only by adults but also by children. The loaves turn out with a wonderful texture, and, if desired, in addition to chocolate, you can add nuts, candied fruits, or any dried fruits. This is a great and delicious alternative to the traditional Easter treat. Try it. Serve cooled or slightly warm.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients from the list. Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.
- 2
Step 2

In a deep bowl, combine sugar and eggs. Beat well.
- 3
Step 3

Add warm milk and yeast.
- 4
Step 4

Pour in the melted butter and vegetable oil.
- 5
Step 5

Then add salt, flour, and cocoa.
- 6
Step 6

Knead a soft and sticky dough. In the photo, you can see that my spoon is almost clean—the dough will easily pull away from the sides.
- 7
Step 7

Add chopped chocolate. The chocolate can be replaced with heat-stable chocolate chips.
- 8
Step 8

Mix thoroughly.
- 9
Step 9

Cover the bowl with a towel and let it sit in a warm place for 1.5–2 hours, or until the dough doubles in size.
- 10
Step 10

Grease your hands with vegetable oil, gently press down the dough, and divide it into 6 equal parts. Each piece of dough should weigh 350–370 grams. Shape each piece into a ball and place into the molds. I bake my Easter breads in paper molds 11 cm in diameter. Fill the molds halfway with dough.
- 11
Step 11

Cover them with a plastic bag and a towel, and leave in a warm place for 20 minutes. Preheat the oven to 170°C (340°F), place the oven rack on the third level from the bottom, put in the pans with the dough and bake for 25–30 minutes. After 20 minutes, you can open the oven and cover the loaves with foil if you notice they are browning too quickly. Check for doneness with a wooden skewer—it should come out clean and dry. Remove the loaves from the oven and let them cool completely.

Step 12

Chocolate Easter cakes are ready. Decorate with icing and garnish to your liking.
