Chocolate truffles with rum

Description

This recipe won't take much time. Surely you've all tried store-bought chocolate truffles—delicious French chocolate candies named for their resemblance to the mushrooms of the same name. For chocolate lovers and anyone who adores sweets, I recommend making chocolate truffles with rum at home—they turn out much tastier than store-bought ones, and they're ridiculously easy to prepare. Just make sure to double or even triple the recipe right away, because these candies don't last long in storage :) Serve chilled.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Break the chocolate into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Gently heat the cream over low heat—warm it, but do not boil. As soon as bubbles appear on the surface, immediately remove from heat. Pour the warm cream over the chocolate pieces.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Mix well. If the chocolate still does not melt, place the bowl over a double boiler or simply over a pot of boiling water.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Stir the mixture with a spoon until the chocolate has completely melted. Then add vanilla essence to the mixture and stir well again.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Add rum and mix well again.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

We put the perfectly smooth mixture in the refrigerator to cool slightly.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Form nice balls from the slightly set mixture.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Place the balls in the refrigerator for another 20 minutes. Then roll them in cocoa powder.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

If desired, some of the candies can be rolled in coarsely ground pistachios.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Well, the chocolate truffles are ready! They can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days, although I highly doubt they'll last that long :)
