Chocolate buns
Description
The recipe won’t take much time. Fresh compressed yeast can be replaced with dry yeast, and dark chocolate with milk chocolate—that’s optional. Be sure to try making chocolate buns using this recipe.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

It’s convenient to have all the ingredients laid out on the table before you start cooking. The milk should be warm (35–37 degrees).
- 2
Step 2

Pour warm milk into a large bowl, rub the yeast between your fingers, add 1 tablespoon of sugar and mix everything until smooth and even.
- 3
Step 3

Sift 100 grams of flour into the yeast mixture.
- 4
Step 4

Using a whisk, stir in the flour until you have a smooth mixture about the thickness of pancake batter—this is the sponge. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes to develop.
- 5
Step 5

When the sponge has risen, add melted butter, two eggs beaten in a separate small bowl, salt, and the remaining sugar. Mix until all the ingredients are fully combined.
- 6
Step 6

Now sift the flour with the cocoa into this mixture in portions, and while you do so, stir the dough first with a spoon, then knead it with your hands.
- 7
Step 7

The finished dough is soft and does not stick to your hands. Shape the dough into a ball in the bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and leave undisturbed for 1 hour to rise.
- 8
Step 8

After an hour, the dough had noticeably increased in volume.
- 9
Step 9

Cut the chocolate into small pieces.
- 10
Step 10

Roll the dough out into a rectangle 0.5–0.7 cm thick.
- 11
Step 11

Spread the chocolate pieces evenly over the dough.
- 12
Step 12

Roll the chocolate-filled dough into a log roll and cut it into equal pieces.
- 13
Step 13

Place the prepared chocolate buns on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment and bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for 20–25 minutes.
- 14
Step 14

Let the finished buns cool slightly, then serve.
