Chocolate pancakes with a pattern
Description
The recipe won’t take much time. Your family will appreciate these unique pancakes right away. Don’t forget to brew fragrant tea or coffee, or cocoa ahead of time. You can roll the patterned chocolate pancakes into little rolls or fold them into envelopes, adding sliced fruit or fresh berries, jam or preserves as the filling. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. Choose cocoa of any variety and color to suit your taste.
- 2
Step 2

Crack the chicken eggs into a deep bowl, add salt and granulated sugar. If you like, you can add a little vanilla sugar or ground cinnamon—the aroma and flavor of the pancakes will be brighter and richer. Whisk everything with a whisk. Then pour in warm milk and whisk again.

Step 3

Add the wheat flour and whisk it thoroughly into the egg mixture with a whisk. Then pour off roughly one third of the batter into a small bowl, and sift cocoa powder into the deep bowl with the batter and mix thoroughly. You will have two kinds of batter: more chocolate and slightly less plain. Pour 30 ml neutral vegetable oil into the chocolate batter and 10 ml into the plain batter, and mix. Note: “всыпьте какао-порошок” is typically “add/sift cocoa powder” — I used “sift” only if they sift; “add” is safer. Original says всыпьте which is sprinkle/add. I'll use “add” for accuracy. Revised: Add the wheat flour... Then pour off roughly one third of the batter into a small bowl, and add cocoa powder to the deep bowl with the batter and mix thoroughly. I'll send only the translation. Add the wheat flour and whisk it thoroughly into the egg mixture with a whisk. Then pour off roughly one third of the batter into a small bowl, and add cocoa powder to the deep bowl with the batter and mix thoroughly. You will end up with two kinds of batter: more chocolate and slightly less plain. Pour 30 ml of neutral vegetable oil into the chocolate batter and 10 ml into the plain batter, and mix.

Step 4

Heat the skillet on the stove and pour half a ladle of chocolate batter onto it. Cook for about 1–2 minutes over medium heat. It is very important that the heat warms the centre of the skillet, not the edges!
- 5
Step 5

Using a tablespoon, carefully draw a pattern with the light batter. Let your imagination run wild: spirals, stars, letters, a name, etc.
- 6
Step 6

Flip the pancake over to the other side—the side with the pattern. Cook it for 1 minute, but no longer, so the pattern does not brown too much.
- 7
Step 7

Then place the baked pancake with the pattern on a plate and bake the remaining pancakes in the same way. Serve them warm at the table with jam, sour cream, and so on.
