Shekini Pahleva
Description
The recipe won't take much time. I suggest you try making Sheki-style baklava with a very interesting filling. This dessert turns out both beautiful and delicious. See how to prepare Sheki baklava at home. Serve chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Chop the nuts in a blender, leaving some pieces whole (for garnish).
- 2
Step 2

Meanwhile, thaw the dough.
- 3
Step 3

Melt the butter. Place 2 layers of dough on a baking sheet, brushed with butter. Then you can either immediately add the nuts with lemon zest, or place another two layers of buttered dough. It's up to you; I often add more dough layers at the bottom for extra sturdiness of the baklava.
- 4
Step 4

Sprinkle the dough with nuts and grated lemon zest. Alternate layers of dough spread with butter and filling.
- 5
Step 5

Brush the top layer of dough with oil. Now cut the dough sheets into squares or diamonds, and place halved nuts on top.
- 6
Step 6

Bake the baklava in the oven until golden brown (20-25 minutes) at 180 degrees. Meanwhile, prepare the syrup. Boil water, sugar, and honey over low heat for 5-7 minutes.
- 7
Step 7

Remove the baklava from the oven and pour the syrup over it. Let it steep for 10 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

Serve at the table.
