Azerbaijani Shekerbura
Description
The dish consists of small pastries filled with a stuffing. Nuts are mandatory for the filling—hazelnuts, almonds, walnuts, or a mix of several types can be used. The pastries are always decorated with special patterns made using a special tool, although tweezers can also work. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

Step 1

1. To prepare the dough, combine egg yolks with sour cream and sugar, then beat. Add a little flour to the melted butter and mix, then slowly pour in the milk in a thin stream. In a bowl, combine the egg-sour cream mixture with the melted butter, gradually add the remaining flour, and knead into a firm, smooth dough. Divide the dough into small portions and refrigerate for 1.5 to 2 hours.

3. Take 1-2 pieces of dough and roll them out to the size of a saucer, about 2 millimeters thick. Generously add filling, then seal the edges like dumplings, pinching them into a braid and decorating with patterns. Use a stick or tweezers to create the designs. Repeat with all remaining pieces.
