Vegetable shawarma
Description
The recipe won't take much time. I've always loved shawarma and could never walk past a stall where it's made without stopping, but recently I came across a recipe for vegetable shawarma and realized this dish can easily be prepared at home. It actually turns out even tastier, because when cooking for yourself you won't skimp on ingredients—meaning your shawarma will be packed with meat and plenty of vegetables. Isn't that great? Believe me, homemade shawarma with vegetables turns out so delicious that after trying it, you won't even want to look at store-bought versions again. Serve hot.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

First, we need to boil the chicken fillet in slightly salted water until fully cooked. Cut the potatoes into strips and fry them in a pan with vegetable oil, also seasoning them lightly with salt.
- 2
Step 2

Remove the seeds from the bell pepper, rinse it, and cut it into strips.
- 3
Step 3

Peel the onion and slice it thinly into rings.
- 4
Step 4

Grate the cheese on a coarse grater.
- 5
Step 5

Wash the tomatoes and cut them into small slices.
- 6
Step 6

Chop the fresh herbs finely.
- 7
Step 7

Grate the zest from the lemon using a fine grater.
- 8
Step 8

When the cooked chicken breast has cooled slightly, cut it into small pieces. In a separate bowl, mix sour cream and minced garlic; this will be our sauce.
- 9
Step 9

Now we need to cut one lavash in half, and divide the filling into two equal parts as well. Place one whole lavash on the table and put the cut half of the other lavash on one side of it to make it thicker (in total, we'll make 2 shawarmas using 3 lavashes). Then, on one side of the thickened area, place the chicken fillet, sprinkle with paprika, add potatoes, and top with julienned cucumber.

Step 10

On top, place tomatoes and bell pepper, then fresh herbs, and sprinkle everything with grated cheese and lemon zest.
- 11
Step 11

At the end, place the onion on top and pour the sour cream and garlic sauce over it. Fold one side of the lavash (the thickest side) and roll it up into a roll. Repeat the same with the second lavash.
- 12
Step 12

Grease the pan with vegetable oil and fry the lavash on each side until golden brown. Then cover the pan with a lid and heat the shawarma thoroughly. Now transfer it to a plate and serve.
