Shawarma on a Plate
Description
Perfect for the table and with drinks. Shawarma on a plate is a great dinner option for the whole family; you can serve this shawarma as an appetizer to guests or make it for a picnic. This shawarma is very easy to eat—you simply take from the plate whatever you want. You can also serve lavash separately so each guest can wrap their own favorite shawarma. Try it, experiment, and enjoy the result. It can be served warm or chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the necessary ingredients. Cut the chicken fillet into slices, place in a bowl, pour soy sauce over it, and you can add your favorite spices. Mix and let sit for 15–20 minutes.
- 2
Step 2

Cut the potatoes into matchsticks. If the potatoes are high in starch, you can soak them in cold water for about 15 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

In a small skillet or saucepan, heat the vegetable oil. Fry the potatoes in small batches until golden. Don't forget to season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 4
Step 4

The chicken has finished marinating. Fry it in a small amount of vegetable oil until cooked through.
- 5
Step 5

Meanwhile, slice the cucumber into rounds, the tomatoes into rounds or wedges, and the onion into half-moons. I recommend using a flavorful onion—it looks very attractive on the plate. By the way, you can marinate the onion in a vinegar-and-water solution, or leave it fresh.
- 6
Step 6

Cut the fried chicken into small pieces so they are easy to pick up.
- 7
Step 7

Prepare the sauce. Mix the sour cream and mayonnaise. I specifically listed 1–2 tablespoons of each of these products so you can decide which ratio you prefer—equal amounts, more mayonnaise, or more sour cream. Or you can use only sour cream or only mayonnaise, as you like. Add garlic passed through a press, a little salt, and finely chopped herbs to the sauce.

Step 8

Now all that's left is to arrange everything on a plate. There are no hard rules here—just arrange it so it looks beautiful. And of course, don't place similarly colored foods next to each other—the contrast makes it more striking.

Step 9

Done. Serve with herbs.
