Shashlik in an air fryer
Description
The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. You can make shashlik from any meat; today I'm using pork. It turns out very tender and juicy, truly resembling the taste of shashlik grilled over an open fire. In the air fryer, each piece cooks evenly, remaining tender and melt-in-the-mouth inside, with a golden crust on the outside. The meat always turns out absolutely perfect! This is an excellent option when you have a strong craving for shashlik right here and right now. The recipe is quite simple, and as for the marinade—you can confidently experiment or use your own. Serve the finished dish immediately.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients. Rinse the meat beforehand and dry it with a paper towel.
- 2
Step 2

Cut the meat into portion pieces and transfer to a deep bowl. The pieces for shish kebab in an air fryer should be slightly smaller than those for shish kebab on a barbecue, so that they have time to cook thoroughly.
- 3
Step 3

Add the onion cut into feathers, adjika, mustard, vegetable oil, salt, and spices to taste to the meat. Mix well, then knead with your hands so that the onion releases its juice and the marinade penetrates the meat better.
- 4
Step 4

Ideally, cover the bowl and let it marinate for at least 2 hours, or even overnight, stirring occasionally. If you're short on time, let the meat sit for at least 20–30 minutes.
- 5
Step 5

Thread the meat onto special metal skewers designed for use in an air fryer. If using wooden skewers, soak them in water beforehand. Mine can hold about 5-6 pieces per skewer.
- 6
Step 6

Place the skewers on a special grill rack. I cook at 200 degrees for 20 minutes without flipping. Adjust according to your appliance, as it might take slightly more or less time—most importantly, don't overcook and dry out the meat. After about 10 minutes, definitely take out the tray to check, so you can gauge the timing, especially if you're cooking it for the first time.
- 7
Step 7

The shashlik is ready in the air fryer.
- 8
Step 8

You get a very tasty kebab in the halogen oven! If you haven't tried it yet, be sure to do it!
