Beef Stew on the Pan

Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Many people say that real shashlik can only be cooked over charcoal, somewhere by the river, and that any other method simply cannot compare. But I think the truth is, they've just never tried making shashlik at home. I, on the other hand, often prepare this dish for my family—especially during winter or bad weather—and I'm happy to share with you my recipe for beef shashlik cooked on a skillet. It may lack the distinct aroma and flavor of food grilled over charcoal, but still, it's a very, very tasty dish that you'll surely enjoy and that will lift everyone's spirits. Just imagine: snow falling or rain pouring outside, and on your table there's a steaming plate of fragrant shashlik—great, isn't it? So, whenever you'd like to treat yourself to a true summer dish during gloomy weather, remember this simple recipe for beef shashlik on a skillet and delight yourself and your loved ones with this wonderful meal. The dish is now ready to be served.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Rinse the beef and cut it into small pieces (like for regular shashlik).

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Then peel and dice the onion, add to the meat.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

    Season everything and mix well.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Pour the meat and onions with juice from half a lemon. If any lemon seeds fall into the meat, remove them, otherwise the beef will become bitter. Mix everything once again, cover the dish with a lid, and place it in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours; you can marinate it longer if desired.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

When the meat has marinated, it needs to be threaded onto wooden skewers.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

You can fry this shashlik either on a grill pan or on a regular frying pan. Pour a little vegetable oil into the pan and place it over heat. Cook the meat on all sides until done; usually 15–20 minutes is enough. You can salt the shashlik right before frying or after it's cooked—it doesn't really make a difference.

    Step 7

    Step 7

Place the cooked shish kebab on a plate and serve with fresh vegetables and your favorite sauce.
