Apple Charlotte in the oven
Description
The baking is simple and quick. I think this is the best apple cake recipe I've ever tried—and I've tried quite a few. The batter turns out incredibly light and airy. The eggy taste that some apple cakes have is barely noticeable here. Probably not everyone pays attention to that, but I definitely do. Serve it with tea or coffee.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Peel the apples and cut them into slices, arrange them neatly in a greased baking dish sprinkled with semolina. Sprinkle the apples with cinnamon.
- 2
Step 2

Now an important step: separate the yolks and beat them with half the sugar until white and foamy using a whisk or mixer.
- 3
Step 3

Separately, start beating the egg whites with a mixer, gradually adding sugar. Beat until fluffy foam forms.
- 4
Step 4

Now gently combine both mixtures and gradually add the flour. Mix until smooth.

Step 5

Place the dough over the apples, spread it out, and put it in a preheated oven at 180 degrees. The dough should turn golden, and a toothpick inserted should come out dry.
