Apple Charlotte, simple and delicious
Description
The dessert is easy and quick to prepare. This version of charlotte, where white bread or "Ladyfingers" cookies are used instead of dough, isn't very popular with us, but that's a pity! The cake turns out extremely moist and fragrant. Serve the charlotte with whipped cream, either warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1
Wash the apples, peel them, and cut into slices.
- 2
Step 2
Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the apples, pour in the wine, and add sugar, lemon zest, raisins, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Simmer until the apples become soft.
- 3
Step 3
Drain the liquid from the apple mixture into another container. Boil the syrup until it thickens slightly. Then return it back to the apples.
- 4
Step 4
Trim the crusts off the bread slices. Cut each slice in half and trim the top so that the pieces are the same height as the charlotte mold.
- 5
Step 5
Melt the butter, add 2 tablespoons of sugar and dissolve. Dip each piece of bread into the butter. Arrange the bread pieces to form the base and sides in a baking dish. The bread pieces should fit tightly against each other.
- 6
Step 6
Place the filling onto the prepared Charlotte base, pressing it down firmly. Cover the pie with the bread trimmings on top, remembering to dip them in oil.
- 7
Step 7
Bake at 190 degrees for 30-40 minutes. If the top starts to burn, cover the pie with foil.
