Sharlotka with Apples from Compote

Description

The recipe won't take much time. You can take a golden-brown charlotte with you on a trip, to work, or on a picnic. Children and adults alike will happily eat it for breakfast or as an afternoon snack, especially with sweet sauces and condensed milk. Don't forget the drinks—you can serve it with tea or coffee.

    Prepare the ingredients listed. Remove the apple slices from the compote and place them on a paper towel, blotting away excess moisture.

    Break the eggs into the mixer bowl or food processor bowl. Add the sugar and salt to the same bowl. Optionally, you may add vanilla sugar. Whip everything for about 3–4 minutes until light and fluffy.

    Add the wheat flour and gently fold it into the mixture without beating. Preheat the oven to 180 °C and grease the baking tin with vegetable oil or butter.

    Place the dough in the baking pan and level it evenly. On top, carefully arrange the apple slices from the compote—not stacked directly on top of one another. Place the pan in the oven.

    Bake the charlotte for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown at moderate heat. After baking, take the tin out of the oven and place it on its side so the pie does not collapse while cooling. Let the charlotte cool completely.

    Then remove it from the pan, carefully trimming the edges with a knife. Place it on a plate and serve. If desired, you can sprinkle the charlotte with powdered sugar or soak it with syrup. Brew some aromatic tea!
