Pear Charlotte Cake in an Air Fryer
Description
The bake comes together easily and quickly. A pear Charlotte is a lovely excuse to gather family and friends around the table for tea. Make it with care—the appliance will let you know with a sound when baking is done. If you like, you can scale up the ingredients so there’s enough for everyone. Then you’ll need to bake the pie a little longer in the air fryer. The bake is ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients listed. Choose pears that are not too juicy so the slices do not release juice during baking.
- 2
Step 2

Crack the chicken eggs into the bowl of a food processor or mixer. Add granulated sugar and salt. You can add vanilla sugar and a couple of pinches of ground cinnamon. Beat for 3–4 minutes until light and fluffy.
- 3
Step 3

Gradually add first-grade wheat flour in portions, stirring it in with a whisk without whipping it.
- 4
Step 4

Grease the pan with vegetable oil and pour in the prepared sponge cake batter. If you plan to make more servings, multiply the ingredient amounts several times.
- 5
Step 5

Rinse the pear under water and pat dry with a paper towel. Cut it into quarters and scoop out or cut away the cores. Slice the flesh and arrange the slices on top of the pastry (dough).
- 6
Step 6

Bake the charlotte in an air fryer at 160°C for about 40–45 minutes, until golden. Always test the cake with a wooden skewer so the batter is cooked through beneath the baked top. If it is still raw, bake 10–15 minutes longer. The temperature should be moderate so the top does not burn and the bottom does not stay raw.

Step 7

Remove the pan from the bowl, and the charlotte from the pan itself, and let it cool slightly. Then dust with powdered sugar and serve warm with drinks. Bon appétit!
