with meringue
Description
This is a wonderful dessert for tea: light and airy dough, soft apples, and a crisp meringue topping. Both adults and children will surely enjoy this cake. If desired, you can add vanilla or cinnamon to the batter for extra flavor. Serve the "Charlotte" warm or completely cooled. The baking is ready. Serve at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1
Grease a heat-resistant dish with butter.
- 2
Step 2
Wash the apples, dry them, and remove the cores. Cut into small cubes and place in a baking dish in an even layer. Optionally, you can drizzle with lemon juice.
- 3
Step 3
To prepare the dough, beat the eggs with sugar until fluffy.
- 4
Step 4
Add the flour, continuing to beat. Pour the finished batter into a mold.
- 5
Step 5
Place the pie in a preheated oven at 180 degrees and bake for about half an hour.
- 6
Step 6
Meanwhile, you can make the meringue. Beat the chilled egg whites with sugar until stiff peaks form.
- 7
Step 7
Remove the pan and spread the egg whites on top. It's convenient to use a piping bag for this. Return to the oven for about half an hour, reducing the temperature to 140 degrees.
- 8
Step 8
When the "Charlotte" with meringue is ready, let it cool slightly and, if desired, drizzle with sugar syrup (simmer water with sugar over low heat until it turns caramel-colored).
