Perfect for the table and with drinks. And did you know,
Instructions

Step 1

1. I tried herring pâté at a buffet and was hugely impressed by the flavor. As it turns out, this appetizer takes only 30 minutes of your time, and you need herring fillets, butter, processed cheese, and boiled carrots.

Step 2

2. You can use ready-prepared herring fillets, which will save you time on filleting the fish. Boil the carrots in their skins, then let them cool and peel them.

Step 3

3. Now pass the herring fillets, carrot, and processed cheese through a meat grinder. If you want a fine, porridge-like pâté consistency, use a blender instead, but a meat grinder is more practical here (the pâté tastes better—tried and true!). Then add soft butter and mix everything thoroughly until smooth.

Step 4

4. Before serving, you can garnish the herring pâté with green onions—it will be both tasty and beautiful! Serve the pâté as sandwiches on white or black bread (to your taste).
