Herring Butter
Description
The appetizer is quick and easy to make. Use herring butter for sandwiches and savory tarts. Once the butter has set, you can pipe it attractively through a pastry bag onto crackers or bread slices in star shapes. Serve on canapés or use it to garnish stuffed eggs. I'll tell you how and show you. It can be served warm or chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients. I used grainy mustard, but any kind will work. Herring is best when lightly salted or marinated. Let's get started.
- 2
Step 2

You need to fillet the herring. Remove the skin, head, innards, and backbone. Try to remove as many bones as possible. Cut the fillets into pieces.
- 3
Step 3

Put pieces of herring, a hard-boiled egg, butter, and mustard in the food processor bowl; squeeze in the lemon juice.
- 4
Step 4

Turn on pulse mode for a couple of minutes. The mixture should be thick and uneven, with pieces of herring still in it.
- 5
Step 5

Add finely chopped dill. And simply mix with herring butter.
- 6
Step 6

Spread the finished herring butter into clean jars and refrigerate for a couple of hours to set. The herring butter is ready!
