Herring Spread for Sandwiches
Description
I like to make two or three portions of this appetizer at once and not worry that I have nothing for breakfast. Herring spread for sandwiches has a bright flavor; here the taste of the herring itself, mustard, and a light hint of lemon juice combine perfectly. See my recipe below. Serve the appetizer at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all necessary ingredients. Clean the herring by removing the innards, bones, and skin; remove the head.
- 2
Step 2

Cut the prepared herring fillet as finely as possible.
- 3
Step 3

Add boiled egg grated on a fine grater.
- 4
Step 4

Mix the butter, mustard, and lemon juice. Stir until smooth — that will make it easier to combine with the herring.
- 5
Step 5

Add the prepared mixture to the herring.
- 6
Step 6

Mix everything thoroughly.
- 7
Step 7

Essentially, you can spread the spread on bread and serve it right away, but I recommend placing it on plastic wrap, rolling it into a log shape, and refrigerating it for about an hour — it will taste even better that way.
- 8
Step 8

Spread the herring spread on the bread and serve.
