Herring for Vodka
Description
It works for both holidays and everyday meals. I should say right away that if you salt fish ahead of time, you need to store it in the freezer. That is very convenient, by the way, since the whole salting process takes 5–6 days. No extra spices are needed; you can add those just before serving the fish at the table. The appetizer is ready. Serve immediately.

Step 1

1. Choose the amount of fish yourself, depending on your needs. There is only one rule—the brine must completely cover the fish, and the fish should have enough room in it.

Step 2

2. Prepare a suitable container for salting. Pour water into it and add salt. Mix thoroughly until fully dissolved. You can increase the amount of brine while maintaining the proportions. Place the fish in the container.
