Description
Fried herring is just as good as fried smelt or crucian carp. You can fry this fish whole or cut into pieces. It makes an excellent addition to potato or porridge side dishes. For seafood lovers, this recipe will be a pleasant surprise. Herring tastes best when breaded with breadcrumbs or flour.

1. If the fish is frozen, let it thaw. If it's lightly salted, cut off the head and tail, remove the skin, take out all the innards, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a paper towel.

2. Cut the prepared fish into small pieces, although you can leave it whole if desired. Lightly salt the fresh fish.

3. Pour the flour into a bowl and coat the fish pieces on both sides. Place a frying pan on the stove, pour in a little sunflower oil, and put the fish pieces onto the heated pan.
