Carp in the oven with mayonnaise
Description
If you want to surprise your guests with something special, try making this simple dish — carp baked in the oven with mayonnaise. It's not only very tasty, but also looks beautiful and festive, making it perfect for both a casual family dinner and a holiday table. There are countless ways to bake fish, but I'd like to share the recipe that has become a tradition in our family. Fish prepared this way turns out wonderfully aromatic and tender. Give it a try—you won't regret it.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

We clean our fish, very carefully cut open the belly so as not to damage the gallbladder. Carefully remove all the innards. I happened to get a bream with roe, so I decided to leave it in. Remove the gills and gently rinse the fish.

Step 2

Prepare a sauce from mayonnaise, pepper, and juice of 1/4 lemon. Mix the ingredients thoroughly (you can slightly salt the sauce, but be careful not to overdo it, as we're using salty mayonnaise!).
- 3
Step 3

Brush the carp on all sides with the prepared sauce and set it aside for 30 minutes.
- 4
Step 4

While our carp is marinating, we peel the onion, slice it into rings, and wash the celery greens, drying them with a towel.
- 5
Step 5

After half an hour has passed, we spread out on the table a sheet of foil the size of our fish. We place the carp on it. We stuff the fish with onion and celery, and also arrange them around the sides.
- 6
Step 6

Fold the edges of the foil and cover the top with another sheet. Seal tightly. You should get a cocoon-like package, as shown in the photo. Place the fish in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for one hour.
- 7
Step 7

After an hour, we turn off the oven and leave our fish inside for another half hour with the door closed! After 30 minutes, we take out the fish, unwrap the foil, and remove the onion and herbs.

Step 8

You can serve the fish whole, or cut it into portion-sized pieces.
