Description

It's very hard to resist such delicious homemade treat. Don't spare your effort and time—this is definitely worth it. Although samosa is most commonly made with meat, the pumpkin version is also popular. It's incredibly tasty—be sure to try it! This pastry makes an excellent hearty snack to satisfy hunger during the day, or a wonderful addition to your family meal at lunch or dinner. Serve it cooled down or slightly warm.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients from the list.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

In a deep bowl, combine flour, salt, and sugar.

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Pour in the melted butter and water with dissolved vinegar.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

First, mix everything with a spoon, then continue kneading by hand. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth, firm, and elastic. Cover the dough with a towel and let it rest for 20 minutes.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Divide the dough into two parts.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

Sprinkle the work surface with flour, place a piece of dough on it, and begin rolling it out into a thin sheet. Sprinkle the dough with flour, flip it over, and continue rolling again. Sprinkle with flour once more and flip it again. By periodically dusting the dough with flour and turning it, you will be able to roll it out as thin as possible without it becoming sticky.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Using a pastry brush, spread the melted butter over the rolled-out dough.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Similarly, roll out the second piece of dough and cover the first rolled and greased layer with it. Again, brush the dough on top with butter and tightly roll everything into a log.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Roll the log with your hands into a spiral and coil it into a snail shape. Transfer to a plate, wrap with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for about 1 hour (the butter should solidify).

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. Chop the pumpkin and onion into small cubes. Combine them, add vegetable oil, salt, and spices to taste. Mix well. The filling is ready.

  11. 11

    Step 11

    Step 11

Cut the dough into pieces of 50-70 grams (depending on the desired size of the samsa).

  12. 12

    Step 12

    Step 12

Press the dough with your hand to shape it into a circle.

  13. 13

    Step 13

    Step 13

Roll out a flatbread from each piece of dough.

  14. 14

    Step 14

    Step 14

Place the filling in the center.

  15. 15

    Step 15

    Step 15

Seal the edges carefully to form a neat triangle. Place them on a greased baking sheet or one lined with parchment paper, seam side down.

  16. 16

    Step 16

    Step 16

Brush the top with egg yolk (you can add 1 tsp of milk) and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes.
