Sugar cookies for decorating
Description
The recipe will not take much time. Sugar cookies made for decorating are very tasty, and children may eat them before you even get around to decorating them. Make larger batches if you have little ones and sweet tooths around. They can be served with tea or coffee.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients listed. Butter can be replaced with margarine, but not with spread.
- 2
Step 2

Melt the butter in the microwave or in a double boiler and let cool slightly. Add the egg to the butter in the bowl, then add the salt and sugar. Mix gently until combined.
- 3
Step 3

Stir in the wheat flour and baking powder. Knead a firm, stiff dough. Place it in the refrigerator for half an hour, wrapped in plastic wrap.
- 4
Step 4

The dough should be very cold.
- 5
Step 5

Divide it into two parts and roll each piece very thin on plastic wrap. Use a plunger cutter to cut shapes out of the dough.
- 6
Step 6

Place them in the refrigerator right on the paper for 10 minutes. During that time, preheat the oven to 180°C. Then move the paper onto a baking sheet, and put the baking sheet in the oven for 10–15 minutes. Do not bake the cookies until they turn golden brown! Otherwise they will dry out too much. Take them out when they are still lightly golden and soft—they will dry further as they cool.

Step 7

The base for piping is completely ready—the important thing is to let it cool.
