Fish pie made with yeast dough
Description
Making a fish pie with yeast dough is quite simple. However, keep in mind that yeast dough requires time and attention. It will take about 2–2.5 hours for the dough to rise properly. Therefore, I recommend preparing this pie as a form of meditation on your day off—enjoying the process yourself and delighting your family. Remember that yeast is a living organism that readily absorbs your mood, so you should make the fish pie in a good mood and with love. For the filling, I recommend using pike-perch. Its fillet is the most tender and soft, pairing perfectly with eggs and green onions. Good luck and enjoy!
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

In a deep container, dissolve the yeast in warm milk and water, then add sugar and a tablespoon of flour. Let it sit for a while.
- 2
Step 2

In a large saucepan, melt the butter, add the vegetable oil, 3 eggs, and the mixture with risen yeast. Then gradually start adding flour. The dough should turn out soft and elastic. Let the dough rise in a warm place for 2 hours.
- 3
Step 3

While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. Cut the fish fillet into small pieces and marinate in lemon juice, adding salt, pepper, and spices to taste.
- 4
Step 4

Chop the boiled eggs and mix with chopped herbs.
- 5
Step 5

Divide the risen dough into two parts—one larger and one smaller. Roll out the larger part and place it onto a baking tray greased with vegetable oil. Then layer the fish on top, followed by the eggs mixed with onion and herbs.
- 6
Step 6

Roll out the second part of the dough and cover the filling. Brush with egg and prick with a fork. Bake the pie in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for about 1 hour.
- 7
Step 7

Check the doneness of the pie with a wooden toothpick. Usually, when the pie develops a nice golden-brown crust, it is ready.
- 8
Step 8

Remove from the oven and serve warm or cooled.
