Fish stewed in milk
Description
The recipe won't take much time. Tender pieces of fish will melt in your mouth if you prepare it this way. My grandmother shared this recipe with me. There are countless ways to cook fish, but this one is the most well-known and widespread. Even people who don't like fish and find the idea of combining it with milk unthinkable will be delighted after the first bite. Serve hot.

Step 1

1. This recipe is quite well-known, as even young children enjoy fish prepared this way. The milk with vegetables creates an amazing sauce during simmering, making the fish tender, juicy, and incredibly delicious.

Step 2

2. For cooking, we will need a hake or pollock fish (preferably). Cut the fish into medium-sized pieces, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Step 3

3. Coat each piece in flour, then transfer to a frying pan to fry. Use vegetable oil as the base.

Step 4

4. Fry over low heat until a golden crust forms. Then transfer the pieces to a separate plate and proceed to the vegetables.

Step 5

5. While the fish is frying, bring the milk to a boil. Now comes an important step: take a pot for braising, place the fish in as the first layer, then a layer of onion sliced into half-rings, another layer of fish, and finally top it all off with onion again. Next, add the spices and pour in the milk to cover.

Step 6

6. Reduce heat to low and simmer for about half an hour. During this time, the onions will release their juice, and the milk combined with flour will give the sauce a fantastic consistency. Serve the fish with a side dish—porridge (rice), mashed potatoes, or even pasta will work well.
