Russian-style fish

60 min4 serv.20 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The dish is prepared without unnecessary complications. Red fish with vegetables, a tangy pickled cucumber, topped with a creamy sauce and a cheesy crust — it's incredibly delicious! In this case, pink salmon is used as the base, but you can use any other fish you have on hand. The fish broth used in the sauce is best prepared in advance. If you don't have it, you can try using water instead. The finished dish is ready to be served.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

Wash the fish and clean it. Put the head, tail, and trimmings into a pot and cook to make a broth. Strain the prepared broth!

  2. 2

    Step 2

Carefully cut off the fillet. Season with salt to taste (you can add fish spices or drizzle with lemon juice, for example) and set aside for now.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Wash the potatoes well, place them in a pot with water. Boil until half-cooked (cooking time depends on the size of the potatoes). Cool, then peel.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Peel the onion, chop finely, and sauté in vegetable oil until translucent.

  5. 5

    Step 5

Add the grated carrots and continue frying for another 5 minutes, stirring.

  6. 6

    Step 6

Cut the cucumbers into cubes, place them in a pan and fry for a few minutes as well.

  7. 7

    Step 7

Dilute the flour in the broth, add sour cream, salt, and spices to taste. Mix everything thoroughly.

  8. 8

    Step 8

When all the preparatory steps are complete, you can assemble the dish. Lightly grease the bottom of a heatproof baking dish with oil. Slice the potatoes into thin rounds and arrange them in the dish.

  9. 9

    Step 9

Place the fish and vegetables in an even layer on top.

  10. 10

    Step 10

Pour in the sour cream mixture and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for half an hour.

  11. 11

    Step 11

Remove the dish, sprinkle with grated cheese, and bake until done.
