Description

A delicious appetizer for any gathering. Who doesn’t know the famous Jewish fish “gefilte fish”!.. This dish isn’t as widely known and is far less labor-intensive, yet its flavor is beyond praise! It’s something like the Jewish fish counterpart to Russian meat aspic. Essentially, it’s fish in aspic with the most everyday vegetables—potatoes, beets, carrots... When ready, the appetizer is done. Serve immediately.

As the final layer, arrange the carrots and onion, add the bay leaf and pepper. Pour in water—it should just barely cover the vegetables—and set over medium heat. When it comes to a boil, gently shake the pot and reduce the heat. Cook for 2–3 hours until the bones are completely softened. Shake the pot periodically.
