Russian buns

Description

Homemade pastries for tea. For what merits Europeans dubbed these Russian buns specifically Russian—I cannot fathom. Be that as it may, the name stuck to buns of this kind, and personally I always call such pastries only by that name—Russian buns. They are very easy to make and turn out beautiful and tasty. The only danger is that the buns are very small, so in one evening you can polish off an unlimited number of them—and that can have consequences :)

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

Into a bowl, add the flour, salt and baking powder. In another container, mix the orange juice, vanillin, oil and 3 eggs. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Knead the dough, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate it for 1 hour. Cut the rested dough into 4 pieces.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Roll each portion of dough into a rectangle. Spread a layer of butter and jam on each rectangle.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Sprinkle the dough with raisins and chopped walnuts to taste. Roll each rectangle up like a jelly roll.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

Cut each roll into 10–14 pieces. Those will be our buns.

  6. 6

    Step 6

All that remains is to carefully transfer all the buns onto a baking sheet greased with butter and bake. Bake for 25 minutes at 190 degrees. Done!
