Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for making a sweet poppy seed roll.
- 2
Step 2

Pour warm milk into a bowl, crumble in the yeast, and add 2 tablespoons of sugar. Let the yeast foam up. If they are fresh, this will happen in 10–12 minutes.
- 3
Step 3

Add the melted butter, sunflower oil, salt, vanilla sugar, and the remaining sugar.
- 4
Step 4

Add the sifted flour.
- 5
Step 5

Knead a soft dough that does not stick to your hands. Place it in a bowl and set it in a warm place to rise.
- 6
Step 6

In an hour to an hour and a half, the dough will increase significantly in volume.
- 7
Step 7

Divide the dough into two equal parts. Roll each part out into a rectangular sheet.
- 8
Step 8

Prepare the poppy seed filling in advance. To do this, place the poppy seeds in a bowl or saucepan and pour in a small amount of water. Put it on the stove, bring the poppy seeds with water to a boil, and simmer for 8–10 minutes. Then drain the water. Mix the poppy seeds with sugar and grind well with a mortar or blend with a blender. The pie filling is ready. Spread the filling onto each sheet of dough.
- 9
Step 9

Roll both poppy seed layers into a log.
- 10
Step 10

Place one roll in a baking pan, as shown in the photo.
- 11
Step 11

Make zigzag cuts on top of the roll using scissors.
- 12
Step 12

Let the roll rise in a warm place for 35–40 minutes. Then brush it with egg. And place it in an oven preheated to 175–180 degrees.
- 13
Step 13

Bake the poppy seed roll until done for 40–45 minutes. Baking time depends on your oven.
- 14
Step 14

Place the finished roll on a plate or cutting board.
- 15
Step 15

Place the second roll in a baking pan. Let it rise for 35–40 minutes, brush it with egg, and put it in the oven.
- 16
Step 16

Bake the second roll at 175–180 degrees for 40–45 minutes.
- 17
Step 17

“Rich Lady” rolls are ready. Let them cool slightly, slice them, and serve with tea, coffee, or milk.
