Poppy Seed and Apple Roll
Description
This recipe won’t take much time. There is probably nothing tastier than a tender, fragrant roll with poppy seeds and apples. Of course, this recipe does require some time, but the baking is worth it. The main ingredient can always be bought at the store. It can be either a ready-made filling or poppy seeds (I use a ready-made filling). You can choose any apples to your taste. My dough is the most ordinary enriched yeast dough. For experienced cooks, making it is no trouble at all. And for beginners, I provide a detailed description of every step of the recipe. Good luck to everyone, and delicious pies and rolls. Serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the ingredients for making a poppy seed and apple roll.
- 2
Step 2

Crumble the yeast into a deep bowl.
- 3
Step 3

Add warm milk, salt, sugar, and vanilla sugar.
- 4
Step 4

Melt the butter, let it cool slightly, and pour it into a bowl.
- 5
Step 5

Sift the flour into a bowl.
- 6
Step 6

Knead an elastic dough that does not stick to your hands.
- 7
Step 7

Cover the dough with plastic wrap and place it in a warm spot. It should rise and increase in volume by 1.5–2 times.
- 8
Step 8

While the dough is rising, wash the apples, peel them, remove the stem and core. Cut the apples into small cubes and place them in a frying pan. Add sugar if the apples are sour and, stirring, simmer over low heat until the juice has evaporated.
- 9
Step 9

Divide the risen dough into two equal parts. Roll one part out into a rectangular sheet.
- 10
Step 10

Spread the poppy seed filling over the sheet of dough and distribute it across the entire surface. If you don’t have filling, take poppy seeds and simmer them for 8–10 minutes in water or milk. Grind them in a mortar, add sugar, mix, and the filling is ready.
- 11
Step 11

Roll up the dough with the filling into a log.
- 12
Step 12

Roll out the second half of the dough into a sheet of the same size. Place the apples along the edge for the entire length.
- 13
Step 13

Roll the sheet of dough with the apple filling into a roll.
- 14
Step 14

Intertwine the rolls with poppy seed filling and apple filling. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand at room temperature for 25–30 minutes. Then brush with egg.
- 15
Step 15

Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and bake in an oven preheated to 175–180 degrees for 40–45 minutes.
- 16
Step 16

A delicious, extraordinarily aromatic, fluffy poppy seed and apple roll is ready. Serve with tea.
