Puff pastry roll with cottage cheese
Description
Delicious baked goods for the whole family. If your home smells of freshly baked treats, then everything is just fine. It means you're not alone — you have family or friends. After all, few people bake just for themselves. The roll I'm offering you is perfect both for a family tea time and for a friendly get-together. The slightly savory taste of puff pastry combined with the mildly salty cottage cheese filling harmonizes beautifully in this roll. And baking it is quite easy, especially if you already have puff pastry on hand. The dessert is ready. Serve it at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Mash the cottage cheese until it becomes more uniform, not lumpy.
- 2
Step 2

We peel the onion and chop it finely. We can even press it slightly to release its juice. Instead of onion, we can use green onion stalks.
- 3
Step 3

Add the chopped onion, salt, pepper, egg white (save the yolk for brushing the roll) and finely chopped dill to the cottage cheese. Mix well.
- 4
Step 4

We should have enough dough for two rolls. Take it out of the freezer in advance to thaw. Roll out one part of the dough into a square about 30 by 30 cm. Place half of the filling on top and spread it evenly. Roll up the dough with the filling into a log.
- 5
Step 5

Line the baking sheet with parchment paper. For extra insurance, it's better to grease it with vegetable oil.
- 6
Step 6

Place the rolls on a baking sheet and brush them with egg yolk. The yolk can be mixed with a tablespoon of water or milk.
- 7
Step 7

Place the baking sheet with the rolls into a preheated oven at 180 degrees. Bake for about 35–40 minutes until they turn a beautiful golden-brown color.
