
Rum cake with icing
Description
Perfectly pairs with tea and coffee. Recipe for a cake with dark rum, walnuts, and a glaze made of butter, white rum, and vanilla. The cake is great served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The baked goods are ready. Serve at the table.

Step 1

1. Grease and flour a loaf pan. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees. In a large bowl, beat the butter with a mixer at high speed for several seconds. While the mixer is running, slowly add the white and brown sugar. Continue beating at high speed until the mixture becomes creamy and almost white, about 5 minutes. Combine eggs, vanilla, and dark rum in a medium bowl. Slowly add the butter mixture to the egg mixture and beat at medium speed. Add salt and beat. Sift one cup of flour into the bowl and stir with a spatula. Repeat this process two more times with the remaining flour.

2. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 1 hour.

3. To make the glaze, combine butter, sugar, and water in a small saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil, reduce the heat to medium, and continue cooking for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and rum until well blended. Pour about 1/3 of the glaze over the cake and let it stand for 5 minutes.

4. Invert onto a serving plate, prick several times with a fork, and drizzle with the remaining glaze. Let cool to room temperature before serving.
