Daikon Daisy
Description
A delicious appetizer for any gathering. As you can see in the photo, a daikon daisy is a very original and beautiful appetizer that will beautifully decorate your holiday table and surprise all your guests. The main thing is that making these daisies is quite simple—no special carving (food carving) skills are required. I managed to make a beautiful daisy around my third try. Fortunately, daikon and carrots are inexpensive ingredients, so you can experiment freely—failed daisies can be eaten right away, and beautiful ones can be used to set the table :) Serve the appetizer at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Peel a piece of daikon, shape it into a cylinder—for this, simply trim the sharp edges with a vegetable peeler.
- 2
Step 2

From the center toward the edge, using a knife, make shallow cuts approximately 1–2 mm deep.
- 3
Step 3

Hold the knife at a 30-degree angle to the cut you made and carefully trim away some of the daikon flesh from both sides.
- 4
Step 4

Like this.
- 5
Step 5

Cut our prepared ingredient into rounds about 5–6 mm thick.
- 6
Step 6

Using a small knife, carefully cut out the daisy petals.
- 7
Step 7

Again, using a small knife, give the petals a slightly rounded shape.
- 8
Step 8

Using a Parisienne scoop (a special carving tool), scoop out the core of the carrot in the shape of a ball.
- 9
Step 9

Use a toothpick to secure the daikon petals to the carrot core.
- 10
Step 10

Briefly place the resulting mixture in cold water.
- 11

The bouquet is ready. Beautiful, isn't it?:)
