Oven Rolls
Description
A delicious appetizer for any gathering. The main feature of baked rolls is the sauce used to coat the top. There are many varieties of such baking sauces, and once you learn how to make some of them, you can bake rolls in the oven with different flavors. After baking, you can additionally drizzle the rolls with thick unagi or teriyaki sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Baked rolls are best enjoyed warm. Serve with herbs and sauce.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Cook the rice for sushi.
- 2
Step 2

Prepare a dressing for the rice from rice vinegar, sugar, salt, and water.
- 3
Step 3

Transfer the cooked rice to a larger bowl, lightly fluff it with gentle strokes using a wooden spatula, pour in the dressing, and gently mix the rice.
- 4
Step 4

Prepare the remaining ingredients for baked rolls.
- 5
Step 5

Cut the boiled squid into small cubes.
- 6
Step 6

In a small bowl separately, mix the chopped squid, capelin roe, and grated cheese. You should get a thick mixture. Set aside 8 tsp. of the filling.
- 7
Step 7

To make the rolls: spread the rice on half of the nori sheet and distribute it in an even layer.
- 8
Step 8

Turn the nori sheet rice-side down and place a strip of cream cheese.
- 9
Step 9

Place the prepared cheese filling next to the cheese.
- 10
Step 10

Roll the roll, pack it tightly, and "firm up" the edges of the roll.
- 11
Step 11

Cut the roll into 8 equal pieces.
- 12
Step 12

Line a baking sheet with foil and arrange the prepared rolls.
- 13
Step 13

Place 1 tsp of filling on each roll portion. In this recipe, the filling also serves as the sauce, which makes baking the rolls in the oven easier, but the dish only tastes better for it. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
- 14
Step 14

Bake the sushi in the oven for 2–3 minutes at 200°C. Better in “Broil” mode. The baked rolls are ready. Serve them hot or warm, drizzled with teriyaki sauce, with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger served separately.
