Mackerel Rolls
Description
A tasty appetizer for any gathering. Mackerel rolls turn out very tasty and unusual. For the recipe, buy ready-made mackerel; you will also need fresh cucumbers for the filling. For the rolls, use the standard set of ingredients — rice, nori sheets, rice vinegar, and seasonings for the dressing. Serve the appetizer at the table.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare all the ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Rinse the rice, cover with clean water, and cook for 10 minutes. Turn off the heat, cover the rice with a lid, and leave it for 15 minutes; it will finish cooking and become almost ready. Just the perfect texture for rolls.
- 3
Step 3

Mix rice vinegar, salt, and sugar in a bowl or saucepan. Heat until the crystals dissolve, then remove from the heat; do not boil.
- 4
Step 4

Pour the vinegar dressing over the warm cooked rice and mix.
- 5
Step 5

Spread the rice on the rough side of the nori, leaving a gap along one edge so the rolls roll up well and the edges do not unravel.
- 6
Step 6

For the filling, cut the cucumbers into strips. Peel the cucumbers first. Clean the salted mackerel, removing the skin and bones, and cut the fish flesh into strips.
- 7
Step 7

Place the mackerel and cucumber strips on the rice, leaving a small margin from the edge.
- 8
Step 8

Roll the nori into a tight roll using a bamboo mat.
- 9
Step 9

Cut the rolls with a sharp knife, dipping it in cold water so the rice doesn't stick.
- 10
Step 10

The appetizer is ready. Serve the rolls with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and spicy wasabi mustard.
