Fish Rolls
Description
The recipe won't take much time. This is a fairly classic fish roll recipe that even a beginner can follow. However, if you like, you can endlessly experiment with the filling using your favorite ingredients—cucumber, cream cheese, and so on. If you don't like things too spicy, it's better not to put wasabi in the filling and use it only when serving.

Step 1

1. If you are making fish rolls at home for the first time, I want to draw your attention right away to the fact that it is best to use special rice—for sushi. Using regular rice can ruin not only the appearance but also the taste of the finished rolls.

Step 2

2. After boiling, let the rice rest for 10–15 minutes so it can steep properly. Then sprinkle it with vinegar, adding a little salt and sugar beforehand if desired. Mix gently.

Step 3

3. Place a sushi mat on your work surface, and on top of it—a sheet of nori. The shiny side should face down. Take the rice and spread it on the nori. Prepare a small bowl of clean water with a little rice vinegar added. Wet your hands and spread the rice in an even layer.

Step 4

4. Leaving a little space from the edge, spread the filling—lightly salted salmon and avocado cut into strips. Carefully and tightly roll up the roll using the mat.

Step 5

5. The slicing process is also straightforward. Moisten the knife in vinegar water and cut the roll in half. Then dip it in water again and cut each half into 3 more pieces, moistening the knife each time. That's the whole simple fish roll recipe. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
