Eel roll
Description
It works for both holidays and everyday meals. These days you can buy any ingredients you need to make sushi or rolls at home in the supermarket. To make an eel roll, you will need to get smoked fish (you can choose a spicier one, and then the roll will become a spicy roll), a fresh cucumber, radish sprouts (you can use any green fresh sprouts or shoots, not only radish), a little wasabi, and rice vinegar. Then read the recipe carefully. It can be served warm or chilled.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

First, prepare the rice — this is the most important part: soak it for an hour beforehand, changing the water every 15 minutes. Then rinse through a sieve and dry. Cook until done. Add rice vinegar to taste. By the time you make the roll, the rice should cool but not cool completely — it should be moldable without burning your hand. While the rice is cooking, prepare the other ingredients. Slice the eel thinly.
- 2
Step 2

It is best to cut the eel into elongated pieces.
- 3
Step 3

Divide the nori sheets according to the number of rolls. On one edge, spread the cooled rice, spread wasabi on it, and on top—a piece of eel.
- 4
Step 4

Cut the cucumber into thin strips. Place it on top of the eel.
- 5
Step 5

Add radish sprouts.
- 6
Step 6

Start rolling from one end into a cone, like a paper cone for sunflower seeds. Make sure the ingredients don’t fall out.
- 7
Step 7

Then wrap the other end as well. Give it a straighter shape if possible, but this is optional.
- 8
Step 8

Then try to roll the roll tighter.
- 9
Step 9

Serve the finished eel roll right away—it tastes best when freshly made.
- 10
Step 10

You may sprinkle the rolls with black sesame seeds, if desired.
