Horn-shaped pie with egg filling

60 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The recipe won't take much time. When choosing cottage cheese for making the dough, make sure it is moist enough and not crumbly. You can replace the whole grain flour specified in the recipe with rye or white flour. Also, keep in mind that the amount of flour may vary depending on the moisture of the cottage cheese. Serve cooled or slightly warm.

Instructions

  1. 1

    Step 1

    Step 1

First of all, prepare all the ingredients listed in the recipe. Take the butter out of the refrigerator in advance, boil the eggs, and slice the green onions into rings. Instead of paprika, you can use any spices to taste.

  2. 2

    Step 2

    Step 2

Next, you need to prepare the dough. To do this, combine the dry ingredients in a deep bowl: both types of flour (sifted), baking powder, and salt (about 0.5 tsp).

  3. 3

    Step 3

    Step 3

Add the butter, cut into pieces, to the dry mixture (it should be pliable and slightly soft), and rub the ingredients together with your hands until a crumbly texture forms.

  4. 4

    Step 4

    Step 4

Add the cottage cheese to the crumb mixture of butter and flour, and knead the dough by hand. If necessary, sprinkle with a small amount of flour.

  5. 5

    Step 5

    Step 5

The dough should be soft, easily coming away from your hands, with small curd particles that will dissolve during baking. Place it in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes.

  6. 6

    Step 6

    Step 6

While the dough is chilling, prepare the filling: peel and finely chop the boiled eggs, add green onions, sour cream, spices, and salt to taste, then mix the ingredients.

  7. 7

    Step 7

    Step 7

Remove the dough from the refrigerator, divide it into 4 parts (set aside a walnut-sized piece of dough for decorating the pie), and roll each part into a circle 4-5 mm thick (19-20 cm in diameter). Cut each circle in half and place the filling in triangular shapes along both sides of each half-circle, arranging it to make 16 pastries.

  8. 8

    Step 8

    Step 8

Carefully roll the croissants toward each other so they are approximately the same size and meet in the center of the semicircle.

  9. 9

    Step 9

    Step 9

Repeat similar actions with all parts of the dough and filling. Place the horns into a suitable baking dish, and fill the empty space in the center with a ball of dough reserved earlier.

  10. 10

    Step 10

    Step 10

If desired, brush the top of the pie with egg yolk and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 40-45 minutes.

The horn-shaped pie with egg filling can be served either hot or cold.
