Cheese crescents from yeast dough
Description
The recipe won’t take much time. Cheese crescents turn out slightly flaky, but if you want more flakiness in the baked goods, brush the dough layers with butter. Pastries made from this dough turn out very light and airy.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the necessary ingredients.
- 2
Step 2

Melt the butter and let it cool.
- 3
Step 3

In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix.
- 4
Step 4

Add the egg. Mix thoroughly so the ingredients combine.
- 5
Step 5

Add two thirds of the flour amount specified. Pour in the oil, and begin mixing with a spoon.
- 6
Step 6

Sprinkling in the remaining flour, knead with your hands. Gradually the dough will come together into a ball.
- 7
Step 7

The finished dough should be soft and only slightly sticky to the hands. Shape the dough into a ball and transfer it to a bowl greased with vegetable oil. Cover with plastic wrap and leave in a warm place to rise for 1 hour 15 minutes.
- 8
Step 8

While the dough rises, grate the cheese on the medium side of a grater.
- 9
Step 9

After the specified time, the dough will noticeably increase in volume.
- 10
Step 10

Fold the dough. Divide it into three equal parts.
- 11
Step 11

Roll each piece into a sheet 0.3 cm thick. Place one sheet on the work surface. Brush it with a thin layer of vegetable oil.
- 12
Step 12

Divide the cheese into two parts. Sprinkle one part on the greased sheet of dough.
- 13
Step 13

Place the second layer of dough on the cheese. Brush it with vegetable oil.
- 14
Step 14

Sprinkle cheese on top, cover with the third layer of dough.
- 15
Step 15

Lightly roll out the dough with a rolling pin. Pinch the edges.
- 16
Step 16

Cut the cheese slices into 8 wedges.
- 17
Step 17

Roll each wedge into a small roll and shape it into a crescent.
- 18
Step 18

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the prepared crescents. Let rest for 10 minutes to proof. Then brush with egg. Bake in an oven preheated to 180°C for 25–30 minutes. Adjust for your oven’s quirks.
- 19
Step 19

When the time is up, take the croissants out of the oven.
- 20
Step 20

Transfer to a serving dish. Chill slightly before serving.
- 21
Step 21

Remove from the oven and serve warm or at room temperature.
