Crescent Rolls with Marzipan

120 min4 serv.21 февр. 2026 г.

Description

The pastry is prepared simply and quickly. Cream cheese can be replaced with cottage cheese or simply spread the dough with softened butter. Knead the dough with butter – the aroma and taste of such dough are very good. It can be served with tea or coffee.

Instructions

    Step 1

    Step 1

Sift the flour into a bowl, add salt and yeast. Pour in warm milk and melted butter. Beat the egg with sugar and vanilla sugar and add it to the milk mixture. Knead a soft dough, gradually adding vegetable oil. Do not overwork the dough with flour, otherwise the buns will be lighter. Cover the dough with plastic wrap, place it in a warm spot, and let it rise in volume by at least double.

    Step 2

Knead the risen dough and divide it into equal pieces about the size of a medium egg. Mash the room‑temperature cream cheese with a fork. Divide the chocolate‑covered marzipan bar into equal wedges equal to the number of dough balls. Roll each dough ball into an oval and make 4–5 cuts on one end. On the other end, spread a spoonful of cheese in a line and place the marzipan on top.

Roll the croissants and place them on a parchment‑lined baking sheet. Let them rest until they double in volume. Brush them with a yolk beaten with a spoonful of milk and bake in a preheated 180‑degree oven until golden brown. I bake the first 10 minutes with steam, pouring half a cup of hot water onto the bottom of the oven – this makes the pastry puffier and softer.

Brush the finished crescent rolls with butter directly on the baking sheet and, while hot, transfer them to a wooden board. Cover with a towel and let them cool.

Croissants are very tasty warm and also fully cooled. When serving, the croissants can be dusted with powdered sugar or high‑quality dry milk.
