Sour Cream Crescent Cookies with Dulce de Leche
Description
Perfect with tea and coffee. It's very easy and simple to make crescent rolls at home. Be sure to involve children in the process — they love rolling the dough with the filling into miniature little rolls. You can add a bit of vanilla sugar to the powdered sugar to make the dessert even tastier.
Instructions
- 1
Step 1

Prepare the listed ingredients. You may use sour cream and butter of any fat content.
- 2
Step 2

Melt butter in a water bath or in the microwave, but do not let it boil. You may use quality margarine, but not spread! Add sugar and salt, put the sour cream into the bowl with the butter, and mix everything thoroughly.
- 3
Step 3

Add baking powder. If you don’t have it, neutralize 1 tsp baking soda with vinegar.
- 4
Step 4

Add the wheat flour and mix everything thoroughly, working it into a stiff dough. Let it rest for 15–20 minutes, covered with a towel or plastic wrap.
- 5
Step 5

Divide the dough into two parts and roll each into a round sheet. Cut the sheet into segments and place a little boiled condensed milk (about 1/2 tsp) on the wide edge of each segment. Do not use too much filling or it will leak out past the edges of the baked goods.
- 6
Step 6

Starting from the wide end, roll each piece into a small roll. Roll up the remaining pieces the same way.
- 7
Step 7

Bake the rolls in an oven preheated to 180°C on the top rack for about 20 minutes. Make sure they do not overcook or burn. Then take them out and let them cool.
- 8
Step 8

Dust the crescent rolls with powdered sugar. You should dust only cooled baked goods!
- 9
Step 9

Serve appetizing condensed-milk horns with boiled condensed milk at the table, and don’t forget fragrant tea or coffee.
