Rye kvass on yeast
Description
The drink is quick and easy to prepare. Many of us love this national beverage. Did you know that rye kvass can easily be made at home using rye bread and yeast? It's best to use "Borodinsky" bread, as it has a distinct flavor and rich color due to the malt content in its recipe. For detailed instructions on what to do next, follow the step-by-step recipe. Serve chilled.

Step 5

Dissolve the yeast in a small amount of water, then pour it into a jar when the temperature is no higher than 35-36 degrees.

After 2 hours from adding the yeast, the kvass will start fermenting actively and displacing water, so keep this in mind and do not pour water all the way to the neck's edge. Leave the kvass at room temperature for another approximately 8–10 hours.
