
Rice Casserole Like in Kindergarten
Description
Recipe from the magazine “Health” from the 1980s. The casserole was offered for children from two years old. Add the amount of sugar to your taste; it all depends on what you will serve this dish with. Making a rice casserole like in kindergarten is very simple, the set of ingredients is minimal and always on hand. It will be perfect for diversifying the children's menu. Take note: serve warm or chilled. Perfect with tea.

Prepare all the ingredients.

Rinse the rice well until the water becomes clear.

Boil the rice in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain it in a sieve or colander.

Transfer the rice to a pot or a sauté pan. Add milk and salt.

Cook, stirring over low heat for 15 minutes, then cover with a lid, remove from heat and let stand for another 10–15 minutes.

Separate the yolk from the white, add sugar to it, beat it, and serve it with the rice.

Whisk the egg white until it forms a stable foam and add it to the other ingredients.

Mix the mixture well and pour it into a butter‑greased baking dish. First, coat the bottom and sides with breadcrumbs. Place the dish in the oven and bake at 180 °C for about an hour. The top should become golden brown.

Rice casserole like in kindergarten is ready. Let it cool to a warm temperature and serve. It can be served with sour cream, condensed milk, or any sweet syrup.
