Description

Perfectly complements meat, poultry, and side dishes. Teriyaki sauce can not only be purchased at retail stores but also easily prepared at home. The sauce is quite simple and can be made by any home cook who has a whisk. The finished sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for several days.

    To prepare the dish—rice with teriyaki sauce—we first need to cook the rice. I prefer to cook rice in a steamer. So, place the rice into the steamer, add water in a 1:2 ratio, and turn on the appliance. In my steamer, the cooking time is 40 minutes.

    The rice is ready. Remove it from the steamer and toss with vegetable oil. If you are not preparing the dish for Lent, you can season the rice with butter.

    Fill a small, wide mold with rice. It's better to grease the mold beforehand so that the rice can be easily removed later.

    Transfer the mold with rice onto a flat plate and turn it over. Remove the mold. A rice shape similar to a cake will remain on the plate.

    3 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 teaspoons wine vinegar, 150 ml water, a pinch of salt, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, 2 teaspoons cornstarch. Mix all these ingredients in a small saucepan.

    Place the mixture over heat. Cook over low heat until it thickens. This will happen in just a few minutes.

    Pour the rice with the prepared sauce. Garnish with herbs and serve.
